P4L forges alliance with Montpellier cluster

Today the Network for Biophotonics Photonics4Life welcomes a new associated Partner. Cluster “Montpellier” will join P4L to add its combined expertise in cameras for oral diagnostics and clinical endoscopes.

Cluster “Montpellier” is composed of three entities, an industrial partner, a clinical research group from the dental faculty and a laboratory of biophysics-biophotonics. The three organisms started working together on a project concerning the development of an intraoral camera to facilitate the detection of precancerous lesions and cancer of the oral mucosa after staining and / or based on the autofluorescence of the tissues. The SOPRO-Acteon company is producing the intra-oral camera for caries diagnostic (SOPROLIFE) and clinical endoscopes. The LBN- EA 4203 laboratory of the dental Faculty of University Montpellier 1 is working in the cluster to validate the clinical use of the SOPROLIFE camera and to develop a similar camera for oral cancer diagnostic. The Bionanophotonics team of UMR 5221- Laboratoire Charles Coulomb (University Montpellier 2) is in charge of the photonic investigations.
