Light for Health

The ICFO Light for Health Event will bring together the region’s biophotonics community and leading scientists from the biomedical, biophotonics and super-resolution imaging research fields. The event comprises lectures by renowned leaders in these areas, panel discussions and lab tours. The two-day event will be a gathering space for ICFOnians, medical doctors and clinicians, biologists, physicists, engineers, chemists and experts from small and large corporations. The event includes the European release of the new STED CW System by Leica Microsystems.

Physicians show, where it needs to shine

8 December 2011

On Wednesday, December 7, an international consortium of doctors evaluated on going research projects within Photonics4Life Consortium in Karlsruhe that can better diagnose and treat diseases with the help of optical technologies. At a scientific meeting of the interdisciplinary network Photonics4Life 19 European projects were presented. From those the doctors now selected eight that are the most promising to be put into clinic trials. The project leaders can now present their winning projects across Europe at several important occasions.  [more]
