Post-doctoral research position in Optical Tweezers and Raman spectroscopy

ICFO is offering a postdoctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young scientist who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment.

The successful candidate will be part of two projects carried out in the "Optical Tweezers" research group, lead by Prof. Dmitri Petrov. The group has acquired a wide expertise in applications of optical tweezers combined with Raman spectroscopy to biosciences, and also modelling thermodynamical processes by optical trap technique.

The candidate will play a key role in the development of optical tweezers combined with Tip-Enhanced-Raman-Spectroscopy and experimental simulations of thermodynamical engines in microsystems. His/her research will be done in close collaboration with two PhD students of the group, as well as a theory group.

Round Robin Experiment

Raman spectroscopy has already proved its effectiveness in many cases for medical diagnostics such as for cancer, cardiovascular diseases and infections. However, there are no standards in the different working groups, e.g. for sample preparation, implementation of the Raman experiments, spectra pre-treatment, data evaluation, etc.In a round robin experiment, the required groundwork will take place in order to define standardised Raman measurement methods, which will be fundamental for establishing Raman spectroscopy for clinical diagnostic procedures.
